Each year a small group of Augustana faculty, staff, and students choose a theme that will be the focus of community engagement and intellectual discussion over the course of the coming year. This year the focus will connect them with their place in rural Alberta by acting as an institutional pilot site to be supplied as much as possible with locally and regionally-sourced food.
“At registration this year, all Augustana students received a copy of Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. Having staff and students read the same book is a key element of their theme year as it provides a common focus for conversation.”
